Portuguese for Spanish Speakers
This course is geared towards individuals who speak Spanish fluently and have a solid English foundation. The course focuses on the contrasts between Spanish and Portuguese to help the learner gain optimal understanding in proper grammar and pronunciation. The course is communicatively driven and centers on developing a competent level of Portuguese for the professional world as well as broader cultural contexts.
Portuguese for English Speakers
This track is for those learning Portuguese as a second language and who do not speak a romance language (Spanish, Italian, French, Romanian).
The course takes a highly interactive approach to language learning while integrating cultural information in every lesson. At the end of the program, the learner will be well-versed in Portuguese communication, grammar, and cultural relevance to apply to the professional world.
Portuguese for Heritage Learners
This course is designed for those who may have learned Portuguese from familial or work environments but who were primarily educated in the U.S. The ideal learner may have little to no training in terms of formal Portuguese but have less, little or no difficulty with speaking and listening. This course aims to strengthen formal skills such as writing and reading, while boosting vocabulary for professional and/or academic situations.
Business Contexts and Cases in Portuguese (Level 3 and above)
This advanced intermediate course offers an in-depth look at Portuguese used in the business and professional world. Business cases and contexts are discussed while building the vocabulary and formal language skills necessary to succeed. The ideal student would already have a solid understanding of Portuguese grammar.
*All courses are divided into 16 hour quarter periods. A minimum of 16 hours commitment is required. All course plans are revised and created every Quarter Course.
Course Level Breakdown:
Full Level Course: 64 hrs.
Half Course: 32 hrs.
Quarter Course: 16 hrs.
